It's never too early for students and their families to start thinking about life after high school (really!) This doesn't mean your child needs to decide their career or college plans in elementary school, but it does give you an opportunity to address those "So What?" questions that growing children often have about school. If your student asks you why they should care about mastering math and reading skills, talk to them about how these skills are critical for almost any career they could dream up! Learning to get along well with others is also an important skill for children to develop that will help them for the rest of their lives. Many of our classroom guidance lessons offer children the chance to work with their peers. Additionally, we are lucky to have the STEAM resource at Winterpock in which children use collaboration and teamwork skills during every class meeting!
The work and study habits students learn in elementary school often stick with them for their rest of their lives! In addition to hard work, students are also expected to practice punctuality, courtesy, proper dress, and proper language. These skills are essential to current and future success in school and beyond!
